Publication Date: 18-01-2023
After moving from Russia in early March, actress Chulpan Khamatova admits that the war made adjustments to her plans and dreams regarding her profession. However, the opportunity to work and stage performances saves her in the changed reality. In August, the actress will show a one-man show "Orpheus" in Tallinn (tickets HERE), about which she told RusDelfi journalist Alina Zakharova.
“Yes, I make money and everything seems to be working out. Of course****Bold, this is not what I'm used to, being a famous actress in Russia, and probably one of the highest paid. But it's okay, some new stage of life is beginning,” Chulpan said about her new life in Latvia.
“Today I was at the Latvian language lesson. I will meet my friends who came from Germany. These are our doctors who left long ago. They left a few years ago, but I became friends with them when they helped the foundation or the foundation helped them, everyone helped each other - these are doctors from Dima Rogachev’s clinic, they are now in Riga, and now we will meet, hug and go, in fact, to that the house that I built a few years ago,” Chulpan Khamatova described her day.
Since the beginning of March, after moving to Latvia, the actress released a premiere at the New Riga Theater with Alvis Hermanis, a performance called Postscript. According to her, this is a great happiness for her as an artist and for an actress, because work and the opportunity to ask all the questions inside the work you are preparing and receive some answers saves extremely. “It was my kind of rehabilitation, probably after a rather hard landing in the changed reality. The children went to school. In general, there is a feeling that maybe even enough strength to live on,” says Chulpan.
However, regarding plans for the future, Khamatova admits that she barely learned how to build something a week ahead. “If earlier I planned a vacation for a year - I didn’t have time to finish one, I was already planning another just in case, in order to have time to book hotel tickets and, God forbid, not to poke any work - now I suddenly discovered that my vacation will begin, and I I don't even know what to do with it."
Chulpan says that she had many plans, dreams, ideas related to the Podari Zhizn Foundation and the profession… “And suddenly it turned out that all this could disappear in one second. This is probably some kind of internal trauma - why I'm afraid to plan now.
Very soon, in August, the actress will come to Estonia with a one-man show "Orpheus". Together with their friend, harpist Alexander Boldachev, they made a program that was mainly devoted to the love theme of Orpheus and Eurydice. But then, according to the actress, when February 24 happened, it became clear that you need to get out of this hell. “Actually, lyre, song, art, poetry can be in this sense some kind of guide from darkness into light. The main thing is not to look back, like Eurydice. This is a very personal program of those poems that help me live, which I read to myself in difficult moments of life - it's like an oxygen mask. Maybe this is a medicine, maybe this poetry and this music will help someone else, but it's very personal.
Chulpan Khamatova will arrive in Tallinn on 12 August. In "Orpheus" Chulpan will talk to everyone, but everyone will hear his own - the main thing, necessary. For some, the performance will become a meditation, for others - a manifesto, for others - a confession. And the fourth will take away in the heart the hope for a world in which the harmony of words and music is more important than battles and struggle, and art is above any boundaries.
