Soloists of the great Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will perform in Riga
On 19 April 2025, Camerata RCO, a chamber ensemble formed by leading musicians and concertmasters from Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (RCO), an orchestra consistently ranked in the top ten in the world, will take to the stage of the National Theatre.
The story of Camerata RCO began 15 years ago. During this time, the unique ensemble has recorded 12 albums and gained an impeccable reputation among critics and listeners. The supreme skill and youthful energy, wonderful repertoire and fresh interpretations have made it a welcome guest on the world’s best stages from New York to London, from Amsterdam to Tokyo, from Vienna to Seoul.
The Washington Post notes “...sophisticated, expressive music making with a precision ensemble as snug as the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle” at Camerata RCO concerts; The New York Times notes “warm, glowing performance” of the ensemble.
Everyone in Camerata RCO is a concert soloist, everyone is an outstanding personality and can boast of rich creative experience. What unites them is their love for chamber music. “We love being in close contact with our audience,” say the artists. “The energy that comes from such performances inspires us the most.”
This is why Camerata RCO has about 50 concerts per season, adding them to their already busy schedule. It’s worth noting that the viola in the ensemble is played by Santa Vižine (from Latvia, concertmaster of the viola group of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra since 2021.
In Riga, Camerata RCO will perform masterpieces by Mozart (Quartet for Oboe and Strings in F major, Octet for Winds and Strings in E-flat major) and Brahms (Serenade No. 10, Op. 11).
