About

The cabaret-musical DRAMA QUEEN may well be the most daring show ever to grace the Dzintari Concert Hall stage. Fourteen performers from seven countries — dancers, vocalists, and actors — come together in a production of sweeping ambition: 150 costumes shimmering with sequins and feathers, stiletto heels and leather, glamour at every turn, and breathtaking lighting and sound design. At the center of it all stands Ekaterina Varnava, comedian, performer, and star of Comedy Woman — whose searing self-irony alone is powerful enough to blow all that glamour to pieces. The 18+ rating is to be taken seriously. DRAMA QUEEN is a show where Varnava jokes, sings, dances, and acts — not merely performing a role, but pulling the audience into the story itself, dissolving the boundary between stage and auditorium until every spectator feels like a participant. "I've been a fan of musicals and cabaret since childhood — it's a genre that speaks to me deeply. You know the show will end and you'll return to the real world. But for those two hours, I will do everything in my power to make you feel the full spectrum of human emotion. When you have a venue, a team, the material, the skills, and the desire — this is the best thing that could have happened to me," says Varnava. The project was born two years ago in Cyprus. A story about dreaming without a plan B, about falling and starting over, about inner freedom and the necessity of moving forward without illusions — and with irony — DRAMA QUEEN draws on what Varnava herself has lived through in recent years. The production features 18 original musical compositions and a spectacular visual dimension that transforms personal experience into shared theatrical event. "All the limitations, hang-ups, and prohibitions — they have no place here. If you want something, do it. Who knows how much time any of us has left. That thought has been enormously freeing for me. I suddenly understood that I can do anything in the world. And if tomorrow is the end of the world? I'm not ready for it. Nobody is. Which means I still have a day, two, three, four to do everything I want. That simplifies things enormously," she reflects. Following its premiere in Limassol, DRAMA QUEEN has toured to France, Israel, Kazakhstan, and Armenia. Latvia's sole performance takes place at Dzintari Concert Hall on August 20, 2026.
